Curriculum

At Riddells Creek Primary School we are committed to fostering a learning environment that celebrates inquiry and curiosity across all curriculum areas. We believe in nurturing students' innate sense of wonder and encouraging them to ask questions, seek answers, and explore the world around them.

We believe literacy is the foundation for all learning. Our curriculum integrates evidence-based practices from the science of reading to ensure that students develop strong foundational skills in reading, writing, and communication. We prioritise phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary development, comprehension strategies and fluency to empower students to become proficient readers and effective communicators.

We understand that mathematics is more than just numbers; it is a way of thinking and problem-solving. Our curriculum emphasizes hands-on learning opportunities that engage students in meaningful mathematical exploration. Through real-world applications, manipulatives, and problem-solving tasks, students develop critical thinking skills, mathematical fluency, and a deep understanding of mathematical concepts.

Inquiry learning serves as a cornerstone throughout our curriculum, fostering critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills essential for success in today's world. Within STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Physical Education (PE), Visual Art, Performing Art, Auslan, and the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program, our inquiry-based approaches not only deepen understanding but also cultivate a lifelong passion for learning.
